Churches in Loughborough have been working closely together for many years to share Jesus’ love with our town, but our hope is that 2008 will mark a gear change in what we do together. There’s already in excess of a hundred activities impacting a significant portion of our town, with everything from toddlers groups to work with the homeless, from seniors to students and much inbetween, but our vision for Hope ’08 is to go further than ever before.” Final plans for Hope ’08 are still being finalized, but, amongst others, are likely to include special events and initiatives for toddlers, children, young people, students, young families, seniors, business people, forced migrants, late night clubbers and those who are homeless or in financial difficulty.

Part of a national initiative, Hope ’08 enjoys support from a wide range of national church leaders, as well as central government, the police and many others. At the launch of Hope 08 in Loughborough, local MP Andy Reed, Leicestershire Chief Constable Matt Baggott and Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, Mike Jones were all present to express their support for Hope ’08 and their thanks to local churches for what is already being done.

Hope 08 is not just about doing new things together although there will definitely be some new ideas and initiatives we do throughout 2008. We recognize that across all the churches in Loughborough there are so many different projects and initiatives that help and serve the people of Loughborough already. An important part of part of Hope 08 is celebrating this fact and standing up and letting the town know that God and His church are alive and well. Without the churches, Loughborough would look very different!!”
