The Big Picture was a world record breaking community picture built on the grass outside Emmanuel Church in March 2008. Part of Hope 08, it comprised of almost 500 panels, each painted by a community group, school or individual. In total around 2,000 people took part in painting the boards, which together made up an 80 metre long and almost 8 metre high picture of the Easter story! To view the pictures and what they mean please download an electronic version of the souvenir brochure on the left of this page. The Bigger Picture reached it's peak on Easter Monday, with a fun day attended by around 1,500 people. Including a ceremony to put the last piece in, and attended by Andy Reed MP and Councillor Mike Jones, there was live music, an illusionist, children's activities and games, a free giant BBQ, videos why we made the Bigger Picture, and the day finished with a fireworks display.
